Thoughts behind a Stitched Mouth

By Katherine Lightwood

"Have you ever realized why people wear masks...Hide their face, real emotions, passions or interests..."

Well...not everyone does, some people do. I call them defensive people. They put their guards high up, pretend something they are not, hide their intimate emotions. They live in shadows, they crave darkness and light hurts them. And after a while darkness becomes part of them. No matter how much light you shine to them you can never light them up. To the other people, they seem grim, boring. a shy, introvert, person without confidence, emotionless, cold and distant. If they physically look good then they become mysterious and charming. And if not they become a freak show, an odd variable that needs to be removed. And eventually, they get removed. From the society, from the world, from lives of the people and many more situations."

Well!! It's not about me. It's in general. I am talking about those who are considered as rejected. And among them, some evolve out of that and become the charming one but with a mask, shielding all the emotions out. They conquer the world and win. The become master of their art but with a void inside them. They somehow live by holding on to something. But there are those who are not strong enough. Those who are damaged beyond repair. No matter how fast they run and how far they run, they will remain the same. They just search for that spark, they grieve when the world around them run fast and they fall behind. Their grief is a soundless whisper, a silent lore where it can fade away with the chaos of the world. Those kinds of souls are the ones who do not just want to left alone but if you found them and hold them you will only get stains of ashes into your hands. They are just the reminiscent of a grim past. Suffocating ashes... that nobody wants to be around.

They pity themselves, they are ashamed of the shame that they have. They are ashamed of their thoughts, their passion, and their love. So, they close themselves. Become cold and distant. They don't want to be ashamed again and again. They put their shield up. They get addicted to something where they can escape. They can pour their heart out. And any path they see, any guide they get they just snatch it. They start to do some good at it and then people start to notice they just get upset and hurt again. People get attracted to them like moths in the flame. They are again...judged, questioned, and get tested. And they just broke down. the way through which they were silently grieving were snatched from them. It is taken from them, people twist it and break it down into something that is not related to them anymore. And it's a strange rule in the world. It's a way to break those who are of the second broken kind that I was describing.

Anyway out of it. Well!! there is one "KEEP THE MASK ON"... you know even Disney movies gives the same message to kids. "Conceal don't feel, don't let them know...." From Frozen Movie.

Well, I wonder what would be behind the MASK...some sackful of bones and grieving soul. Only time will tell.
