Oriental Poly Art By Harshita Pandey

Oriental Poly Art

By Harshita Pandey

Hello World!!
I am Harshita Pandey. And this is my first blog. I am another fellow contributor of Crimson Creed
Well! recently I made an Oriental Design on the poly art form.

Allow me to tell you a bit about Poly art. Any artwork which is made up of polygons whether it is a triangle, square or rectangle is called Poly art or Geometric art form.

Typically, there are two types of poly art:

High Poly and Low Poly

Low Poly is polygon mesh made in computer graphics which is made up of a relatively small number of polygons and with high poly, the only difference is that a large number of polygons are used to make this design. Now, Low poly is generally used in real-time applications and high poly is used by animated movie companies.
I used Adobe Illustrator to make this artwork possible. It is a vector software and we usually used this to make vector illustrations and designs.
Well without lingering much on its technical knowledge, I want to share how I fell in love with this art form.
At first, I was not very interested in it, as I found it quite vague. But very thanks to my friend Rahul Kumar, who challenged me to complete this task.
During my Graphics class, our teacher was discussing Poly art form when I started searching for images to get some inspiration. And from there I saw a beautiful painting made by OSTENBROEK, which really caught my eye. So I downloaded it.

After a while, my friend Rahul asked me for my laptop to make a photo manipulation. And before I could say anything he snatched it. (You know, privacy' doesn't have any meaning in friendship and I don't mind either.)

And oh! that damn fateful day. What should I say, my 'friend' did the most annoying thing he could possibly do. He challenged me to make a high poly on that image that I've just downloaded.
I kept telling him that it would be difficult for me to make, but who cares. The worst thing happened when that freak crossed the line when he said: "If you can't complete this task, you will never succeed in your life".
And I kept watching as that creeper crawled away after vilifying me. I slowly burned in the fire of self-doubt and finally decide to take that challenge. I spend at least three days on that complex artwork. Slowly developing every detailed polygon, making sure that I cover all the tones.
And I finally completed it.

Next day, I went back to my institute and showed it to my teacher, he appreciated me a lot. I was on cloud nine, no one has ever appreciated my work that much. Seems like I have done quite a good job.
Now, my eyes were desperately searching for my "friend" as I was ready to reply back his challenge. And when I showed him he was very surprised. His loopy smile was my mark of victory. I was very relieved that day.

Well! My friends that were my story behind this Oriental Artwork. Hope you liked it. To get more insights about this illustration please do visit my blog Harshita Pandey- An Elysian.
