Are We Living In Stimulation?
By Katherine Lightwood
Let's take a situation. There are two worlds, two realities. the 'primary' world where the stimulation is being run and the 'secondary' world. The simulated universe we occupy where which is us the only one. When creating this world there are three steps successfully making the user believe it to be real. And that is Immersion, absorption, and saturation. Think about video games like 'Assassin's Creed' and 'halo'. And they are about recreating and mimicking reality, reliving past events or creating new ones. As the visuals advance, as the experience becomes more immersive and digital characters start reacting on their own, our understanding of what is real and what isn't starts to blur.
Now, characters of video games are bound by set rules and set of defining laws. There are lines of code that dictates what is or isn't solid but it still called a 'wall'.
Now think of our own world. A collection of atoms together form an object that we call a wall. It's been atomically programmed to form a specific shape. We are left with something that looks like and feels like a wall. We don't see the microscopic pieces that build it just like we don't see the code in a game. We just expect it to act in a certain way because of how our world is designed. We trust that this is made of something physical not just something programmed artificial boundary.
When someone comes to your house, how did they get there? Do you see them leave do you see them on their drive? The leave their home, time passes and there they are. It's a structure or configuration of details which together implies the existence of a world and causes the audience to fill in the missing pieces of that world based on details given.
Maybe the reason the universe is expanding and growing that it hasn't finished loading yet. Think of VR. If you are looking in front of you, what is behind you isn't necessarily rendered, it hasn't become real. It isn't until you turn your head that it comes into existence and what was just in front of you is now gone. So, the question becomes how do you know anything exists when you are not looking at it?
And man, this thought makes me real trippy!! Like actually, my head is hurting right now. A day ago, my colleague Praveen and my manager were obsessing over 'Python' software. We were thinking that what if we could learn that and design our own AI. Well!! I know it's a weird fantasy, but yeah we are nerds this is what we dream about. And at the back of mind, I was thinking what if I get this answer in the process of learning and understanding 'Phyton'. So, let's see what happens.
So, that was my thought of the day. To see more posts like this make sure to visit our main page. And do not forget to visit our institute's page to know more about graphic design, 3D, animation courses and other awesome stuff. Till then good day to you.
