Hyperloop Can Be Awesome And Scary

A few days ago my amazing colleague Praveen and I were discussing the Hyperloop technology that Elon Musk just initiated. The first test run was quite successful but it was on a very small scale. Praveen was so much fascinated by that technology that the fear of claustrophobia was not bothering him at all. He was desperate to get into that system and try that out. But that was still not ready to use.
Hyperloop: The brand new method of transport brought forth by the entrepreneur and billionaire Elon Musk. Now, to understand what it is exactly, let's dive into it, shall we?
So, far throughout history, we've been using trains, cars, planes and even rockets. And the Hyperloop is going to be the fifth form of transport. So, going into more specific details the Hyperloop is the high-speed transport system in which passengers sit in a pressurized capsule that rides on a cushion of air. The capsule operates in a sealed near vacuum environment. The propulsion system is still to be chosen from a number of options two of which a magnetic levitation or air pressure similar to that of an air hockey table. The system is proposed to travel at an average speed of 900 kilometers an hour and at a top speed of 1220 km an hour. SpaceX CEO Elon Musk is giving away this idea and outsourced in the form of a competition.Several companies have formed to take on the project and even some all-star interdisciplinary student-led teams are working together to advance the Hyperloop technology.
So, my questions were why do Elon Musk wanted to do all these? Well, he said the world wanted something new and he wanted to try some new modes of transportation. And for me whatever he says it turns out something super cool. Anyways, that idea came to him at the back of 2012, when he was at a Pando daily event in Santa Monica, California. There he announced the world that he was thinking of the fifth mode of transport. Elon stated that this initial concept came to him when he was stuck in LA traffic which caused him to be one hour late for a meeting.
Now, what will be its disadvantages and possible problems of the system? But, firstly let's count the possible advantages of this system. Theoretically, the pods can't crash. It's also much cheaper to build. It is about one-tenth of a cost of a proposed high-speed railway system. This means ticket could quite cost less and it is a lot faster. You can basically get from Amsterdam to Paris in less than 20 minutes.
Just as a side note, the distance as longer than that is actually more economically viable to use a supersonic jet. This system is also very energy efficient. Due to the solar power utilization. In fact, the Hyperloop can generate more power than it consumes as a closed system. so, technically the whole thing actually acts as a power generator. Now, let's deviate from this and see if it has any possible problems. Because even though Elon Musk is so cool, his idea can have shortcomings right?
The experience could be frightening because passengers would be in a narrow sealed windowless capsule inside a sealed tunnel. also, the fast acceleration and noisy vibration could cause motion sickness. So, what you say? Do you want to sit in that Hyperloop Capsule and get claustrophobic? Because I don't want to do that.
So, that was my thought of the day. To see more posts like this make sure to visit our main page. And do not forget to visit our institute's page to know more about graphic design, 3D, animation courses and other awesome stuff. Till then good day to you.
