The sentiment is a Chemical defect found on the winning side

“Sentiment is a chemical defect found in the losing side.”

This was a dialogue of Sherlock Holmes from my favorite television series Sherlock BBC. And most often I think about this topic, is showing sentiment or emotion is actually a weakness?

I often don’t get this concept; it gets really hard for me to wrap my mind around this idea. Since my childhood, I’ve always been taught that showing emotions is a shame. So, I was trained in that way and now it became my 'default setting'. I grew up as not only an introvert but also a painfully shy person.

But I’ve always been very observant about the behaviors of others and compared it with mine. And unfortunately, I’ve found a very big gap.

People usually do show emotions and most of them don’t regret much about it. And here comes the concept of emotional intelligence. It refers to how well we handle ourselves and our relationships.

Multiple studies have found that when it comes to being happy and successful in your career and relationships, emotional intelligence is actually more important than your IQ.  And honestly, I can see how successful I am in these areas (sarcasm).

A brief amount of time I spent in my life involving myself in a healthy social interaction, I’ve learned that I have a relatively low EQ level.  Because I’ve tried to maintain a perfect behavior, grades and response, in general, I‘ve developed a severe anxiety and other freaky mental stuff, which is unfortunately progressing.

The whole roller costar that I am in and others too are because of restricting themselves from showing emotions. They are told that it’s a sign of weakness but in actuality, it is not. If you try to look at this scenario you will see that it’s actually really courageous to show emotions in the first place it is actually the sign that you are strong and you can be vulnerable in front of anyone. It can mean that you are empathic and can feel others emotion too.

Crying while watching a movie or reading a book that is an example that you are actually a very emotionally strong person. Empath people consider others feeling and because of that, they can be great leaders, team players, and even entrepreneurs.

So, that was my thought of the day. To see more posts like this make sure to visit our main page. And Do not forget to visit our institute's page to know more about graphic design, 3D, animation courses and other awesome stuff. Till then good day to you.
