What if AI gets into it's full Potential

By Katherine Lightwood

Machine learning, neural networks and deep learning all are buzzwords in AI circles. But essentially they are all referring to attempt to teach a computer to recognize a dog in a photo or spell a word. And to do that engineered present a computer with lots of data and teach it by repetitions. Similar to teaching an animal a trick, encouraging it when it does well and discouraging it's wrong.

Eventually, the AI will get better in facial recognition or predictive text or whatever task you are giving it to do. But the thing is even if it can do a very simple task like spotting a dog, the computer has to do the calculation every time. It has to scan every pixel in the image and check everything. It just can't anticipate what you want, they just don't work that way.

Now, the question of the day, Do we want the machine to be able to learn to anticipate actions? To be able to get set in their ways over time? According to the genius Stephen Hawking, artificial intelligence will be,"either the best or the worst thing ever to happen in the humanity."

Even though now AI might acquire memories, we probably shouldn't read too much into it.

I don't have much expertise and knowledge over artificial intelligence and machine learning but whenever I think about this thing it gives me shivers.

Have you ever wondered what would happen AI gets to its full potential?

Here's my answer and trust me I am not exaggerating. The AI will effortlessly be able to create and destroy life and shape the very earth itself.

Think about a situation, for a few years now scientists have been able to manipulate and move individual atoms in the lab. If it's possible for us dumb humans to move atoms then it goes without saying that a super-intelligent being could effortlessly rearrange billions of atoms all at once meaning that nothing in the universe could be safe from its touch.

And this, of course, leads to immortality. If AI could rearrange atoms then theoretically it can create super-intelligent nanobots that would permanently live inside all of us and we could constantly repair damaged cells. So, we will no longer age and hence immortality is achieved.

Well!! these are all crazy ideas of my mind that what AI could possibly do. But in reality, we have a long way to go before we achieve anything closer than that.

So, that was my thought of the day. To see more posts like this make sure to visit our main page. And Do not forget to visit our institute's page to know more about graphic design, 3D, animation courses and other awesome stuff. Till then good day to you.
